Let’s Be Honest: Life Is Hard!
Life can be a relentless journey peppered with trials, heartbreaks, and unrelenting challenges. As a 44-year-old woman, I’ve faced my share of struggles, some more harrowing than others. I’ve tasted the bitter fruits of a past marred by the shadow of molestation at a young age and have come to know the unwelcome companions of chronic pain and depression. My years serving overseas in Iraq left me with injuries that still echo in my daily life, reminding me of the scars—both visible and invisible—that I carry with me.
In my quest for love and acceptance, I explored relationships with women, often placing myself in situations that I now recognize as living in sin. I sought solace in the arms of others, believing it would ease my loneliness, but instead, it often deepened my sense of isolation. Living alone has been a calling card of my life, yet the yearning for companionship and the desire to be married remains ever present.
For many years, I faced these battles on my own, believing that I could navigate the storm without help. But life has a way of humbling us, stripping away our illusions of control. And so I found myself at a crossroads, grappling with despair—until I welcomed Christ into my life. This was the turning point, the moment when my perspective began to shift.
Embracing faith has transformed my world. It’s not that the challenges disappeared; rather, it’s my ability to cope that has changed. Trusting in Christ means that I no longer have to shoulder my burdens in solitude. He meets me in my darkest moments, wraps me in His love, and offers me comfort through the depths of my depression. When thoughts of despair begin to creep in, it is His voice that interrupts my turmoil, guiding me back to hope.
In my journey of faith, I’ve discovered something remarkable: certain desires that once entangled me have begun to fade. The longing for relationships that strayed from His path diminished as I cultivated a deeper relationship with Christ. The distractions that once clouded my heart have been replaced by a singular desire—to please Him. It’s a simple yet profound shift, one that has given my life new meaning and direction.
Let’s be honest, living can sometimes be hard. It’s not easy to always do the right thing and live as we know we should. But I’ve learned that with Christ, the chains of temptation can be broken. You discover that you don’t need to worry as much about the chaos of the world when you base your life on the unwavering promises of God. His promises resonate deeply, and I cling to the truth that He will never lie to me. As His word says, if we love Him, we will keep His commandments.
So, I pose a heartfelt question to you: Do you love Him today? Do you desire to become a better version of yourself? The wonderful news is that you can. Just trust Him. Build a relationship with Him, immerse yourself in His word, and strive to walk uprightly, righteously. Come as you are; your past doesn’t define your future. But don’t stay as you are. Embrace the journey; you will grow if you take your walk with Christ seriously.
One day, you’ll look back on your life and understand the significance of your choices. You’ll realize how far you’ve come, witnessing the transformation that takes place when you invite Him into your heart. You will emerge as a better version of yourself—one that reflects His love and grace.
Come today. His arms are open, ready to embrace you. Allow Him to carry your burdens and lead you into a life brimming with purpose, hope, and unshakeable joy. Life is hard, but with Christ by our side, it becomes a journey worth taking, filled with possibilities for growth and renewal. Let's walk this path together.
